This would certainly change the nature of Congress! Get big money from the corporations and billionaires out of politics and make this truly a government of The People, by The People and by The People that make up the 98% of America.

If you didn't duck and cover in school, or know it was noon on Saturday when they tested the air raid sirens, you might not fully comprehend the fact Trump just withdrew from one of the most significant nuclear arms agreements that silenced the sirens and suspended duck and cover. I grew up making sure I knew the location of the closest public fallout shelter, now we have to wonder and worry about the tsunami creating nuke Russia has claimed to develop, in addition to all the other nukes.

As if that wasn't enough to keep you awake at night, Trump has direct access to the "nuclear football". So far Trump is handing Putin his top 10 wish list!

If wearing black face 30 years ago is a problem, then Mitch McConnell posing with a Confederate battle flag and accepting an award from Sons of the Confederacy is certainly unacceptable. It is time for the turtle to be retired!

Given the definition of "trump", I find it interesting that Herr Drumpf chose to change the family name to Trump.

Barry Goldwater was the Republican presidential candidate in 1964. This was a period of change where Democrats and Republicans were accepting civil rights and, essentially, trading platforms.

Is there anyone left out there who wonders why we are in this stasis because of failure to compromise? Once again I post one of the relatively few statements I have always viewed as prescient. Our forefathers designed our Constitution to try and overcome the tendency to lose sight of why the nation was founded.

"Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them."

Trump claims to be "the king of debt" as if owing 22 TRILLION DOLLARS is an advantage. The problem is the Dunning-Kruger effect, Trump is too stupid to realize just how stupid he really is!

Trump - the King of Debt

Speaking about his personal businesses, he told cnn on May 4, 2016, “I’m the king of debt. I love debt.” The next day, Mr. Trump told cnbc that if he became president, he would borrow knowing that “if the economy crashed, you could make a deal. And if the economy was good, it was good. So, therefore, you can’t lose.” On June 22, 2016, he reiterated to cbs This Morning: “I’m the king of debt. I’m great with debt; nobody knows debt better than me. I’ve made a fortune by using debt, and if things don’t work out, I renegotiate the debt. I mean, that’s a smart thing, not a stupid thing.”

It is not a smart thing to accumulate debt! At some point we are going to see the bubble burst, and we are already seeing some disturbing signs.

When asked what renegotiating the debt meant, Trump responded, “You go back and you say, ‘Hey, guess what? The economy just crashed. I’m gonna give you back half.’”

In other words, if the economy crashes, President Trump says that America will just pay back less than what the nation actually owes. This is dangerous thinking! It’s never wise to accumulate debt and assume that if things don’t work out you can always renegotiate. How will creditors like China react when America says, “I’m gonna give you back half”?

On February 8, Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul delayed the votes for Mr. Trump’s proposed budget for a couple of hours by delivering a speech on the floor of the Senate. In his speech, he asked, “How come you were against President Obama’s deficits and then how come you’re for Republican deficits? … Isn’t that the very definition of hypocrisy?”

Republicans who held 33 hearings...

Republicans who held 33 hearings on Benghazi complain that Cohen’s testimony was a waste of time

House Republicans spent the past few years — when they were the majority party — eschewing oversight of President Donald Trump and his administration, and instead holding hearings into such topics as social media and campus censorship of Trump supporters. Now that Democrats are in the majority and holding hearings that describe the potential legal jeopardy facing the president, House Republicans are suddenly very upset about wasting time.

The GOP members of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform spent much of Wednesday’s hearing with former Trump attorney and fixer Michael Cohen (who also served as the Republican National Committee Deputy Finance Chair) making it clear that they did not want to be there. “This isn’t the reason the people of West Virginia sent me to Congress,” complained Republican Rep. Carol Miller (R-WV), who ran her campaign on a pledge to support President Trump.

Miller said that she was “appalled” that the committee was listening to sworn testimony about alleged felonies committed by a sitting president, when it “could be focused on actual issues that are facing America like border security, neo-natal abstinence syndrome, or improving our nation’s crumbling infrastructure.” She said the committee should instead be holding hearings on child separation — a policy implemented by Trump’s own administration.

Even the Republicans’ oversight committee Twitter account repeated the claim:

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) argued that the committee should not be hearing from an admitted liar and instead should be interviewing Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein about whether senior members of the Department of Justice had suggested that Trump was unfit to continue serving as president. Jordan is under scrutiny because he was named in a class-action lawsuit suit by former Ohio State wrestlers who say he knew about sexual abuse by a doctor on the team while Jordan was a coach there and did not take action.

Rep. Greg Steube (R-WI) attacked the hearing for having “zero probative value and zero credibility” and argued that they should instead spend their “limited time focusing on improving the lives of Americans, creating jobs, or streamlining the functioning of our federal government.”

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) said the American people want them to be securing the border, balancing the budget, and restoring “health care freedom,” and thus “have a hell of a lot more important things to do than watch this.”

#Benghazi During the Obama administration, Rep. Jordan served on the Benghazi Select Committee, a Republican-lead effort that cost about $7 million dollars and held 33 hearings over more than two years into a topic that had already been investigated by seven other Congressional committees. The investigations followed a pair of deadly September 2012 attacks on U.S. facilities in Libya.

The Select Committee found no wrong-doing on the part of Hillary Clinton, but in an unguarded moment House GOP leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) admitted that lengthy probes had had the desired effect — hurting her popularity.

Odd that Trump rants on about socialism, claiming the United States would NEVER be a socialist nation despite the first three words of our Constitution!
