Fighting soldiers from the sky Fearless men who jump and die Men who mean just what they say The brave men of the Green Beret Silver wings upon their chest These are men, America’s best One hundred men we’ll test today But only three win the Green Beret Trained to live, off nature’s land Trained in combat, hand to hand Men who fight by night and day Courage deep, from the Green Beret Silver wings upon their chest These are men, America’s best One hundred men we’ll test today But only three win the Green Beret Back at home a young wife waits Her Green Beret has met his fate He has died for those oppressed Leaving her this last request Put silver wings on my son’s chest Make him one of America’s best He’ll be a man they’ll test one day Have him win the Green Beret "Don't ask me silly questions I won't play silly games I'm just a simple choo choo train And I'll always be the same.

The marchin' band came down along Main Street The soldier-blues fell in behind I looked across and there I saw Billy Waiting to go and join the line And with her head upon his shoulder His young and lovely fiancee From where I stood, I saw she was cryin' And through her tears I heard her say "Billy, don't be a hero, don't be a fool with your life" "Billy, don't be a hero, come back and make me your wife" And as he started to go she said "Billy, keep your head lo-o-ow" "Billy, don't be a hero, come back to me" The soldier-blues were trapped on a hillside The battle raging all around The sergeant cried "We've got to hang on, boys" "We got to hold this piece a'ground" "I need a volunteer to ride up" "And bring us back some extra men" And Billy's hand was up in a moment Forgettin' all the words she said She said "Billy, don't be a hero, don't be a fool with your life" "Billy, don't be a hero, come back and make me your wife" And as he started to go she said "Billy, keep your head lo-o-ow" "Billy, don't be a hero, come back to me" I heard his fiancee got a letter That told how Billy died that day The letter said that he was a hero She should be proud he died that way I heard she threw that letter away Paper Lace "Don't ask me silly questions I won't play silly games I'm just a simple choo choo train And I'll always be the same.

There's no need to fear, Underdog is here. When criminals in this world appear, And break the laws that they should fear, And frighten all who see or hear, The cry goes up both far and near for Underdog, Underdog, Underdog, Underdog. Speed of lightning, roar of thunder, Fighting all who rob or plunder Underdog, Underdog. When in this world the headlines read Of those who's hearts are filled with greed And rob and steal from those in need. To right this wrong with blinding speed goes Underdog, Underdog, Underdog, Underdog. Speed of lightning, roar of thunder, Fighting all who rob or plunder Underdog, Underdog. Hi MsO Yep I've been reading in the overpopulation and the clarification threads and I can see what you mean... I think some of them folks have been depressed lately and want one or all of us to share their pain. Friday night I crashed your party Saturday I said I'm sorry Sunday came and trashed it out again I was only having fun Wasn't hurting anyone And we all enjoyed the weekend for a change I've been stranded in the combat zone I walked through Bedford Stuy alone Even rode my motorcycle in the rain And you told me not to drive But I made it home alive So you said that only proves that I'm insane You may be right I may be crazy But it just might be a lunatic you're looking for Turn out the light Don't try to save me You may be wrong for all I know But you may be right Remember how I found you there Alone in your electric chair I told you dirty jokes until you smiled You were lonely for a man I said take me as I am 'Cause you might enjoy some madness for a while Now think of all the years you tried to Find someone to satisfy you I might be as crazy as you say If I'm crazy then it's true That it's all because of you And you wouldn't want me any other way You may be right I may be crazy But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for It's too late to fight It's too late to change me You may be wrong for all I know But you may be right You may be right I may be crazy But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for Turn out the light Don't try to save me You may be wrong for all I know You may be right You may be wrong but you may be right (x6, fades away) Billy Joel "Don't ask me silly questions I won't play silly games I'm just a simple choo choo train And I'll always be the same.

Close up the bar you know the gates of the brewery She's out there every night And she sure ain't drinkin' tea I love that woman, she's the best one that I had But she's got this habit now and it sure is gettin' bad chorus: That whiskey drinkin' woman Is makin' a poor man out of me She's got bottles in the kitchen Even got them in my bed Most times I see her now She's three parts out of her head Don't know where I went wrong I sure try to treat her right But it sure upsets me Seein' her juiced up every night. chorus: lead: Got to solve this problem Won't you help me find the key The way that things are going I'll have to buy the distillery She just stands there smilin' With a whiskey in each hand Got to think of something Don't know how much I can stand chorus: Got to get myself together, start workin' something out Maybe if I tried some booze, I'd know what it's about I love that woman, she's the best one that I had But she's got this problem now And it sure is gettin' bad. chorus: lead: Nazareth "Don't ask me silly questions I won't play silly games I'm just a simple choo choo train And I'll always be the same.

Bugles are calling from prairie to shore, "Sign up" and "Fall In" and march off to war. Blue grass and cotton, burnt and forgotten All hope seems gone so soldier march on to die. Bugles are calling from prairie to shore, "Sign up" and "Fall In" and march off to war. There in the distance a flag I can see, Scorched and in ribbons but whose can it be, How ends the story, whose is the glory Ask if we dare, our comrades out there who sleep. Dad's Gonna Kill Me Written by Richard Thompson copyright Beeswing/Bug Music Appears on Sweet Warrior (2007) Live Warrior (2009) Walking On A Wire, Disc 4 (2009)
Out in the desert there’s a soldier lying dead Vultures pecking the eyes out of his head Another day that could have been me there instead Nobody loves me here Nobody loves me here
Dad’s Gonna Kill Me Dad’s Gonna Kill Me
You hit the booby trap and you’re in pieces With every bullet your risk increases Old Ali Baba, he’s a different species Nobody loves me here Nobody loves me here
Dad’s Gonna Kill Me Dad’s Gonna Kill Me
I’m dead meat in my HumV Frankenstein I hit the road block, God knows I never hit the mine The dice rolled and I got lucky this time
Dad’s Gonna Kill Me Dad’s Gonna Kill Me
I’ve got a wife, a kid, another on the way I might get home if I can live through today Before I came out here I never used to pray Nobody loves me here Nobody loves me here
Dad’s Gonna Kill Me
Dad’s in a bad mood, Dad’s got the blues It’s someone else’s mess that I didn’t choose At least we’re winning on the Fox Evening News Nobody loves me here
Dad’s Gonna Kill Me Dad’s Gonna Kill Me
Dawn Patrol went out and didn’t come back Hug the wire and pray like I told you, Mac Or they’ll be shovelling bits of you into a sack
Dad’s Gonna Kill Me.
And who’s that stranger walking in my dreams And whose that stranger cast a shadow ‘cross my heart And who’s that stranger, I dare speak his name Must be old Death a-walking Must be old Death a-walking
Dad’s Gonna Kill Me
7 muzzle monkeys standing in a row Standing waiting for The Sandbox to blow Sitting targets in the wild west show
Nobody loves me here
Dad’s Gonna Kill Me
Another angel got his wings this week Charbroiled with his own Willie Pete Nobody’s dying if you speak double-speak
Dad’s Gonna Kill Me

The Ballad Of Penny Evans Steve Goodman
Oh my name is Penny Evans and my age is twenty-one A young widow in the war that's being fought in Viet Nam And I have two infant daughters and I do the best I can Now they say the war is over, but I think it's just begun.
And I remember I was seventeen on the day I met young Bill At his father's grand piano, we'd play good old 'Heart and Soul' Well, I only knew the left hand part and he the right so well He's the only boy I ever slept with and the only one I will.
It's first we had a baby girl and we had two good years It was next the 1A notice came and we parted without tears It was nine months from our last good night our second babe appears So it's ten months and a telegram confirming all our fears.
And now every month I get a check from an Army bureaucrat And it's every month I tear it up and I mail the damn thing back. Do you think that makes it all right, do you think I'd fall for that ? And you can keep your bloody money, it sure won't bring my Billy back.
I never cared for politics, and speeches I don't understand, And likewise never took no charity from any living man But tonight there's fifty thousand gone in that unhappy land And fifty thousand 'Heart and Soul's' being played with just one hand.
And my name is Penny Evans and I've just gone twenty-one A young widow in the war that's being fought in Viet Nam And I have two infant daughters and I thank God I have no sons Now they say the war is over, but I think it's just begun.

The Fish Cheer & I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-To-Die Rag Gimme an F!
F! Gimme an I!
I! Gimme an S!
S! Gimme an H!
H! What's that spell ?
FISH! What's that spell ?
FISH! What's that spell ?
FISH! Yeah, come on all of you, big strong men, Uncle Sam needs your help again. He's got himself in a terrible jam Way down yonder in Vietnam So put down your books and pick up a gun, We're gonna have a whole lotta fun.
And it's one, two, three, What are we fighting for ? Don't ask me, I don't give a damn, Next stop is Vietnam; And it's five, six, seven, Open up the pearly gates, Well there ain't no time to wonder why, Whoopee! we're all gonna die.
Well, come on generals, let's move fast; Your big chance has come at last. Gotta go out and get those reds — The only good commie is the one who's dead And you know that peace can only be won When we've blown 'em all to kingdom come.
And it's one, two, three, What are we fighting for ? Don't ask me, I don't give a damn, Next stop is Vietnam; And it's five, six, seven, Open up the pearly gates, Well there ain't no time to wonder why Whoopee! we're all gonna die.
Huh!
Well, come on Wall Street, don't move slow, Why man, this is war au-go-go. There's plenty good money to be made By supplying the Army with the tools of the trade, Just hope and pray that if they drop the bomb, They drop it on the Viet Cong.
And it's one, two, three, What are we fighting for ? Don't ask me, I don't give a damn, Next stop is Vietnam. And it's five, six, seven, Open up the pearly gates, Well there ain't no time to wonder why Whoopee! we're all gonna die.
Well, come on mothers throughout the land, Pack your boys off to Vietnam. Come on fathers, don't hesitate, Send 'em off before it's too late. Be the first one on your block To have your boy come home in a box.
And it's one, two, three What are we fighting for ? Don't ask me, I don't give a damn, Next stop is Vietnam. And it's five, six, seven, Open up the pearly gates, Well there ain't no time to wonder why, Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Waist Deep In The Big Muddy
by Pete Seeger 1963, planned for the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour in 1967 but CBS objected to the blacklisted Seeger making obvious references to the"big fool" in the White House, finally sung by Seeger on the Comedy Hour in 1968 as the finale in a medley of anti-war songs
It was back in nineteen forty-two, I was a member of a good platoon. We were on maneuvers in-a Loozianna, One night by the light of the moon.
The captain told us to ford a river, That's how it all begun. We were -- knee deep in the Big Muddy, But the big fool said to push on.
The Sergeant said, "Sir, are you sure, This is the best way back to the base?" "Sergeant, go on! I forded this river 'Bout a mile above this place.
It'll be a little soggy but just keep slogging. We'll soon be on dry ground." We were -- waist deep in the Big Muddy And the big fool said to push on.
The Sergeant said, "Sir, with all this equipment No man will be able to swim." "Sergeant, don't be a Nervous Nellie," The Captain said to him.
"All we need is a little determination; Men, follow me, I'll lead on." We were -- neck deep in the Big Muddy And the big fool said to push on.
All at once, the moon clouded over, We heard a gurgling cry. A few seconds later, the captain's helmet Was all that floated by.
The Sergeant said, "Turn around men! I'm in charge from now on." And we just made it out of the Big Muddy With the captain dead and gone.
We stripped and dived and found his body Stuck in the old quicksand. I guess he didn't know that the water was deeper Than the place he'd once before been.
Another stream had joined the Big Muddy 'Bout a half mile from where we'd gone. We were lucky to escape from the Big Muddy When the big fool said to push on.
Well, I'm not going to point any moral; I'll leave that for yourself Maybe you're still walking, you're still talking You'd like to keep your health.
But every time I read the papers That old feeling comes on; We're -- waist deep in the Big Muddy And the big fool says to push on.
Waist deep in the Big Muddy And the big fool says to push on.
Waist deep in the Big Muddy And the big fool says to push on.
Waist deep! Neck deep! Soon even a Tall man'll be over his head, we're Waist deep in the Big Muddy! And the big fool says to push on!
Words and music by Pete Seeger (1967) TRO (c) 1967 Melody Trails, Inc. New York, NY

Not only does your body bang but I miss the conversation too Tell me that you couldn't sleep can't think can't eat till I come see you If I had my way I'll come and get you girl In your favorite car with the missing top man around my way where we used to park and did all those things to steal your heart It's been about a year now ain't seen or heard from you I've been missing you crazy how do you, how do you sleep I found the letter you wrote me it still smells just like you damn those sweet memories How do you, how do you sleep, how do you sleep It's been about a year now ain't seen or heard from you I've been missing you crazy how do you, how do you sleep I found the letter you wrote me it still smells just like you damn those sweet memories How do you, how do you sleep, how do you sleep Jesse McCartney "Don't ask me silly questions I won't play silly games I'm just a simple choo choo train And I'll always be the same.

Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young In a world of magnets and miracles Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary The ringing of the division bell had begun Along the long road and on down to the causeway Do they still live there by the cut There was a ragged band that followed in our footsteps Running before time took our dreams away Leaving the myriad small creatures trying to tie us to the ground To a life consumed by slow decay The grass was greener The light was brighter With friends surrounded The nights of wonder Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again Dragged by the force of some inner tide At a higher altitude with flag unfurled We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed up world Encumbered forever by desire and ambition There's a hunger still unsatisfied Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon Though down this road we've been so many times The grass was greener The light was brighter The taste was sweeter The nights of wonder With friends surrounded The dawn mist glowing The water flowing The endless river Forever and ever Pink Floyd "Don't ask me silly questions I won't play silly games I'm just a simple choo choo train And I'll always be the same.
