As for tolerance, once again....the modern applied definition is a false one insofar as Christianity.

Maybe that's the problem. The modern definition is New Age.
It is not an accurate definition of tolerance.
Tolerance may be a false one in New Age religion, but it is not in the Bible.
I don't practice New Age beliefs.I prefer the ones taught by the Bible.

There is nothing in the Bible that says to look for evil.
I have showed You several verses that disagree with you, and you still insist that we are to look for
evil. That is false. It is not found in the Bible anywhere.

The Bible says we are to shun evil.It says that we are to not fear evil.
It does not say we are to look for evil.

Lke a friend of mine said once. Chapter and verse please.
If what you belive is Biblical, there should be no problem finding at least one.

So, I see you wish to continue this instead of dropping it in mutual disagreement, very well:

1) The modern applied ( common ) definition of Tolerance is the one YOU often " go by "...because your definition is not to be found within the Bible. Jesus never " tolerated " false beliefs....you do.

2) Actually there is a great deal in the Bible that stresses to be aware of and seek out evil in order to combat and/or avoid it. I see that in my absence Steve has provided several such Scriptures....thank you Steve.

3) Yes the Bible says to " shun evil ", but you can't shun something you don't recognise as such, and you can't recognise it unless you " open your eyes " and actually look for it. Pretty simple logic there " my friend ".

Did I say Jesus tolerated false beliefs?
No I didn't.
I never said that we are to accept other beliefs.
If You think that Jesus didn't tolerate the people of other beliefs Your wrong.
He certainly did.

I think the confusion between us has a lot to do with You assuming I meant something
I didn't or that you thought I had some hidden meaning in what i post.
If I didn't say it, there's a good chance I didn't mean it.

I posted a whole lot more Scripture that says we are not to do that and we are not to be
afraid of evil.
I suppose they never got read, or maybe got ignored.

So where do we go from here. You can show me scripture that can be interpreted as meaning to seek out evil and I can show you Scripture that says not to.

The Bible says to shun evil.It does not say to go hunting for evil so we will have something to shun.
Why in the world would any Christian want to look for evil.
It will show up on it's own.
The Bible does not say to hunt for evil in everything a person does.

Why in the world would you think we can't recognize evil unless we go looking for it.
That makes no sense whatsoever.Keeping the eyes open has nothing to do with going hunting for.
Being vigilant is not going hunmting for.
There are a lot of Scriptures about being vigilant.Ther are non about looking for evil in everything a person does. That was the original topic.
It was never about being vigilant. It was about looking for evil in everything and everybody.
There are no scriptures to back that up.

Sigh.

It is apparent that neither of us is " getting anywhere " in this discussion, for a variety of reasons.

I cannot believe as you do, and do as you suggest....and still do what I am supposed to as a Christian....simple as that as far as I am concerned personally.

What I suggest is in the Bible.
You have the right not to believe it,unless You think I should
treat you with bigotry and prejudice for not believing as I do.

Now....for the third time.....shall we let this drop for the moment or do you want to continue another useless " round " ?

I think Ki said look OUT for evil. That's what it means to be alert, right?

Very much including myself... NONE of us here are perfect, NOT a ONE of us! No matter what we use as a basis of our knowledge, being the imperfect humans we are, we WILL err and we WILL ALL stumble and make our mistakes... but this back and forth over every word we write here is pointless now and in the long run serves evil more than any good. As soon as ANYONE thinks or claims to KNOW something as an absolute, they are mistaken or fooling themselves, they are closing their minds to everything and are willing to cede nothing.

The entire point of this thread seems to be Mistero pointing out that Steve has followed her to her blog and posted something she finds obnoxious or just annoying. I'm sorry Steve, but if you did not realize Mistero posted song lyrics, you should should look at things more closely before you post something here. Furthermore, if Mistero bothers you so much and you seem to feel she is evil, common sense dictates that you stay away... NOT follow her posts elsewhere to make your remarks.

By the same token, Mistero seems to think she right on all she does... well by bringing the issue BACK to the Forum, you are doing just the same thing Steve has done. Everyone else here seems to want to defend their favorites and all that does is add fuel to the fire and keeping it all going.... this is one of the reasons I hesitate to post ANYTHING on this thread, because I really don't want to be adding to the problem.

So everyone seems to like posting scripture, I have one myself. Everyone here, myself included, has, at one time or another, missed the mark and fall into one of the traps mentioned. Everyone can learn something if they read these words and do some self searching... a little soul searching and see if you really measure up 100% of the time, 100% of the ways to stumble.

For all its worth... Proverbs 13 (New International Version)

Proverbs 13

1 A wise son heeds his father's instruction,
but a mocker does not listen to rebuke.
2 From the fruit of his lips a man enjoys good things,
but the unfaithful have a craving for violence.
3 He who guards his lips guards his life,
but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin.
4 The sluggard craves and gets nothing,
but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.
5 The righteous hate what is false,
but the wicked bring shame and disgrace.
6 Righteousness guards the man of integrity,
but wickedness overthrows the sinner.
7 One man pretends to be rich, yet has nothing;
another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.
8 A man's riches may ransom his life,
but a poor man hears no threat.
9 The light of the righteous shines brightly,
but the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.
10 Pride only breeds quarrels,
but wisdom is found in those who take advice.

11 Dishonest money dwindles away,
but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow.
12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.
13 He who scorns instruction will pay for it,
but he who respects a command is rewarded.
14 The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life,
turning a man from the snares of death.
15 Good understanding wins favor,
but the way of the unfaithful is hard. [a]
16 Every prudent man acts out of knowledge,
but a fool exposes his folly.
17 A wicked messenger falls into trouble,
but a trustworthy envoy brings healing.
18 He who ignores discipline comes to poverty and shame,
but whoever heeds correction is honored.
19 A longing fulfilled is sweet to the soul,
but fools detest turning from evil.
20 He who walks with the wise grows wise,
but a companion of fools suffers harm.
21 Misfortune pursues the sinner,
but prosperity is the reward of the righteous.
22 A good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children,
but a sinner's wealth is stored up for the righteous.
23 A poor man's field may produce abundant food,
but injustice sweeps it away.
24 He who spares the rod hates his son,
but he who loves him is careful to discipline him.
25 The righteous eat to their hearts' content,
but the stomach of the wicked goes hungry.
Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

Well we again disagree obviously...

Let me just say that I certainly would not desire to have someone of your particular view or opinion attempting to help guard the gates and walls of any city I or my family resided within.

Accidentally missing something is one thing....we ALL do it from time to time on various matters. PURPOSEFULLY missing something is...well...in this case spiritually dangerous.

Good observations overall in my opinion, and although I could potentially attempt to debate one or two little points....instead I will simply opt to " let it stand " for what it is happy

And who precisely are we speaking to with the above ?

Never mind, it probably is directed at any male within range that agrees with the proper relational structure as dictated within the Bible....apparently.

I could rebutt several points...but of what use ?

Therefore...I will simply say " whatever " in reference to most of the post and say " Welcome back " if indeed you have returned Mistero.

I hope you have been well of late and continue to be of course, some people were " worried " about you ( including myself ) and told me so recently.

With all due respect, Ms/Mr Intangible, you don't have a clue about what you're posting. Though I do believe you are sincere. The reason we have been posting in the BasicISP Discounts forum was to avoid having to have the religious bashing/scripture throwing in at least one place in all these forums. Of course, this was a place where we could engage in "idle chatter" and share the news of our lives. For the most part it was a happy place. Not so much anymore.
Please feel free to jump in and experience it ALL. However, I can pretty much guarantee that if you post anything about religion/beliefs that aren't in the lines of strict fundamental Christianity, be prepared to be beaten to death with scripture and fallible men's interpretations to tell you how very unChristian you are..
With some people there is no such thing as healthy debate nor accepting or respecting that other's may hold different beliefs or interpretations.

And, BTW, Skippy, you can quote scripture 'til you're blue in the face, but you don't know diddley about mixed metaphors . And that was an obvious attempt to deflect answering WHY you made that comment and what the heck you meant by it? I remember distinctly the Catholic tirade you went on about with Paul McCartney's reference to "Mother Mary" and it was all based on your very erroneous assumptions. I worry about a guy who "finds" evil in everything. AND I predict you will need to get the last word in, so go for it!

HOLD ON>>>> you have mistaken me for someone else you despise!!

Of course I am going to defend myself from such a scathing attack out of no where!

You can search all of my 130 posts and I know you will find scripture quoted by me VERY little, anywhere on this site. The only time I pull out the quotes are when that has been the subject or tactic already going in the thread.

In this thread just about every person involved has been throwing around scripture they believe supports their stance or understanding... everyone can find a passage to support a stupid argument that should never have started in the first place! Yet everyone is overlooking some pretty basic features that SHOULD be dictating their actions.... and being proud and argumentative is NOT one of them! Everyone wants to have the last word, no one wants to admit a possible error or simple misunderstanding, no one is willing to be the one that has the wisdom to just let it pass...

Yep. Some peoples ruin the beautiful things cause they just have to find evil in them.

It's their loss, really. Kinda sad though. So much for my beautiful Valentine's Day love song.
They ruined that, too.

They ruined it only for themselves.
Noone is going to ruin anything for me
that I don't allow.

I enjoyed it and if other didn't I don't give a good,
well you know.

Some people feel that they will contract evil if they get close to it.
What they don't realize it that looking for evil actually attracts evil.

I writted a blog about it.
