time/clock ? Acts 1:2b states that the apostles whom he had chosen. Judas was chosen and an apostle,He was also a judean. In acts 1:11 the two in white apparel said "Ye men of Galilee." Judas must have left between verses 4 & 10.

My understanding is that he did not hang himself. He was hung sliced open and his guts fell out onto the ground. He also was not a traitor. Someone was needed to point Jesus out in order for prophesy to be fulfilled.

My understanding is that Judas did hang himself, and was indeed a traitor, actually a betrayer.

Matthew 27:5 NIV
So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.

Matthew 26:48-50 NIV
Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: "The one I kiss is the man; arrest him." 49Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, "Greetings, Rabbi!" and kissed him.
Jesus replied, "Friend, do what you came for."

This verse in Acts gives a seemingly contradictory report. This is probably what you are recalling.

Acts 1:18 NIV
(With the reward he got for his wickedness, Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out.

That's right. Makes you wonder which is the word of God?

They both are.

I said, seeming contradiction. They are both true.

You have tons more faith than I do.

This doesn't require much faith.

Any rookie detective could figure this out.
Let's look at the historical facts.

The historical document (scripture) says:

1) Judas took a bribe to betray Christ.
2) He did what he was paid to do.
3) From the bribe money, Judas bought a field.
4) He threw the balance of the money on the floor in the Temple.
5) He went out to the field he bought and hung himself.
6) He botched his own suicide hanging by falling to his death instead.
7) Falling headlong, his body burst open spilling his innards.

The case is solved.

To the skeptic, everything is suspect.
To the believer, everything fits somehow.
That's the difference.

This is one I have never even heard of as being a possible " contradiction " in Scripture prior to what Terry is seemingly saying. I have of course seen several other examples of apparent contradictions....and some of those are in fact " duzys " apparently....but this is something I had never even considered myself nor have I heard it ever considered even by Atheist proponents.

Personally, as Steve points out with his mini-outline, I see no real or percieved contradiction over this instance in Scripture.

I was the one who brought it up as a seeming contradiction.

One scriptures says Judas hung himself. Another says he fell headlong to his death.
In the final analysis both are true.

Don't get too upset by it dearheart, people leave and more people will come on any Forum there is. In other words its a natural ebb and flow indicitive of Forums no matter where you are on the Web lady...it's ok.

Don't worry about Sarge either, i'm sure when he sorts whatever is bothering him out he will be back ok ? Just be content that when he does things will more than likely be much more peaceful here on the entire Forum since Kattale ( who was hounding Sarge ) has left now supposedly.

Good morning to you too Susan.

As Ki said, very few have left. Probably just katt and JWest.
And many folks have threatened to leave in the past.
But they never actually leave, or they come back.

Readership has actually been up. A made a topic to document a day that beat the posted record.
There were 18 readers on the other day.
I think a lot of new folks are testing the water temperature.
At the point they see it is safe, they will join us.
Then we will have a whole bunch of new friends.

Have a geat day.

No, I haven't checked it out yet.

How do you know who is Christian and who isn't?
Maybe that's what you meant, it doesn't matter.
