Kathleen Bernier, a conservative Republican, sharply criticized the partisan "audit" of the election results being undertaken by former state Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman.
"I mean, it does seem so shocking, of course, you know, we should note the margin of victory in Wisconsin 2020 was identical to the margin in 2016," said anchor Erin Burnett. "Trump won the first time and lost the second. So Republicans in your state are still conducting an investigation of the election and I — we have had some fantastic reports on this, led by Michael Gableman. More than a year since the election. Why are they doing this now, do you think?"
"Well, there were some unusual things that occurred with individuals in Green Bay and the third-party funding and some issues we had in nursing homes, so the fact of the matter is there were some issues that we had," said Bernier. "But by the same token, after the legislative audit bureau finished, after the Wisconsin Institute of Law and Liberty finished, I'm confident that the election results are factual and that any other anomalies or voter fraud cases that we had, which I know there are a little over 500 or so that are being investigated, that's not unusual and we need to move forward because Republicans need to focus on 2022."
She also took issue with Trump's claim that the Wisconsin audit is uncovering massive fraud. "I would love to sit down with President Trump and explain the electoral process to him," she said. "I don't think he really understands. It all boils down to each and every board from each and every community. And those are volunteers from the community that are running the polling places... .The weird, Big Lie-related gift Trump sent to every House Republican.Donald Trump sent every House Republican a conspiratorial book about his defeat as part of a pitiful lobbying campaign.There are currently 212 members of the House Republican conference, and this week, each received a gift from Donald Trump's Save America operation. It was not, however, a gesture of generosity from the former president.
As Politico reported, the gift was a copy of Mollie Hemingway's conspiratorial book "RIGGED: How the Media, Big Tech and the Democrats Seized Our Election," which was accompanied by a signed note from the former president. It read in part:
The Big Lie
"There is no question, American Democracy was under siege during the 2020 Presidential election. Facts are coming out weekly — and election fraud, media bias, and voting irregularities continue to be unearthed. Republican leadership should never have certified the election on January 6th, and now Democrats will never stop their assault on America — our freedom, faith, family, and values."
Trump concluded, "I hope you find this book informative and encouraging in your battle for the heart of our Nation."
Let's briefly take stock of what makes this notable.
First, Mollie Hemingway's book is apparently 448 pages long. If you believe the former president actually read this tome, I have stock in a dubious media company I'd love to sell you.
Second, Trump's commitment to his election delusion is, if anything, intensifying. His signed note to GOP lawmakers referenced "facts" that simply don't exist outside of his imagination.
But stepping back, the larger significance is the far-from-subtle point of this little present: Trump isn't just lying, he's also lobbying.
The deliveries to House Republicans was the former president's latest effort to not only flaunt his weird beliefs and strained relationship with reality, but also to encourage his GOP brethren to toe the line. His lies should be their lies. His conspiracy theories should be their conspiracy theories. His fights should be their fights. .Raskin says Trump "said the criminal part out loud".Congressman Jamie Raskin of Maryland expressed confidence that the House select committee investigating January 6 will hear from President Trump's daughter Ivanka about what transpired that day. She's expected to be called to be interviewed by the committee later this week, although Raskin wouldn't comment on specific days or times that she is supposed to speak to them.
Asked whether he was expecting Ivanka Trump to appear, Raskin declined to answer directly but said, "I personally am expecting everybody who was asked to come and testify to come and do it. And most people are doing it without a subpoena."
"If the president doesn't have an executive privilege claim, certainly, the daughter of the former president doesn't have an executive privilege claim," Raskin told MacFarlane. "What we've got is the Congress and the president of the United States agreeing that there's no executive privilege here —so everybody's got to come and testify."
Ultimately, the committee's aim is to tell the American people and Congress "what exactly happened to us and what were the causes behind it," Raskin said. "What do we need to do to fortify our democratic institutions so we never face a nightmare like that again?"
Trump said in a statement earlier this week that Pence could have "overturned the Election!" .Grand jury probe may reveal Trump stole top-secret documents for 'personal profit' post-presidency: legal expert.A federal grand jury is investigating Donald Trump's handling of classified materials found in boxes at Mar-A-Lago, and a legal expert said the matter should be getting much more attention.
The development shows the Department of Justice believes a crime may have been committed, and MSNBC's Frank Figliuzzi said publicly available reporting already shows the 15 boxes of top-secret materials are believed to have been kept in the White House residence before they were boxed up and sent to Trump's private residence.
"Fifteen boxes of classified documents sitting in the residential wing of the White House doesn’t sound like a mistake to me," wrote Figliuzzi, a former FBI special agent. "That sounds deliberate and less like an error that could be attributed to staff. Virtually every day during my 25 years with the FBI, I handled classified information. It was my experience that staffers, whose job is to know and comply with the rules and regulations for handling such data, don’t deliberately break those rules unless someone at a high level makes them break those rules. That’s why I don’t believe this grand jury is targeting low-level staffers."
Investigators will also want to know what materials were in those boxes, and why the former president may have taken them home with him.
"As Justice Department investigators examine the documents, they’ll be able to see whether the contents held some value to Trump or those around him and possibly determine whether Trump could benefit from whatever’s in those documents," Figliuzzi wrote. "We mustn’t forget that during Trump’s term, his family members parlayed their relationship with him into personal profit and that while he was president, Trump’s own businesses reportedly raked in $2.4 billion."
The case might actually be bigger than it already looks, he said.
"The first step to solving the Mar-a-Lago mystery is to get those documents into the hands of federal prosecutors and agents," Figliuzzi wrote. "The convening of a grand jury suggests that may have already happened. Now, we wait for the mystery to be solved."

say, without sufficient energy, the United States will not be able to defend itself. All

The United States is now starting to feel the pinch of the energy shortage the Jesuits
have created. People have experienced blackouts over large areas as power is shut
off to stay within the limits of generating capacity. Today, instead of constructing
additional nuclear power plants, some of these plants are being dismantled! Will the
people of the United States be able to wake up in time to prevent the coming
national tragedy?

.Trump's people 'attempted to silence us' from pointing out the threat of white supremacists: former DHS official.A former senior Homeland Security official who previously accused Donald Trump's administration of telling his department to stop providing intelligence reports on the threat of Russian interference in the 2020 election told CNN on Tuesday morning that they were also hindered by the former president's people from alerting the public about the rising tide of white nationalists in the U.S.
Speaking with CNN host Jim Sciutto, Brian Murphy, who was in charge of intelligence and analysis at DHS before filing a whistleblower complaint less than two months before the presidential election Trump lost, used theracist attack in a predominately Black community in Buffalo, New York that left ten dead as a springboard to talk government efforts to deal with white supremacists.
While discussing the Saturday attack by an 18-year-old man on the grocery store -- who also published a hate-filled manifesto aimed at minorities based on the so-called conspiratorial "white replacement" conspiracy pushed by conservatives and Fox News personalities \-- Murphy recalled his experiences in the Trump administration.
After first admitting that keeping guns from people like the Buffalo shooter would be difficult, he told the CNN host that "No one wants to enact legislation which prevents people from expressing their first amendment, you know, opinions, but when we're talking about acts of violence, there are carveouts under First Amendment and expressing acts of violence where there is a clear indication that something is going to happen, it is against the law."
Host Sciutto then prompted him by asking whether the Trump administration "set back the DHS efforts to combat this kind of thing?"
"Well, of course," Murphy answered. "Under the Trump administration, and DHS, without question it did. They attempted to silence myself and others that were pointing out what I would call the obvious: which is the threat from white supremacy has been a long-enduring threat in this country, it is nothing new."
"And during that time, by ignoring it, you let that problem grow," he elaborated. "But I'd like to shift gears if I can. In today's world, the DHS is under new leadership. We have a new president and there are steps now that I hope this administration will continue to take to address these problems that we continue to see. So, the country has a long way to go to fully realize the history of domestic terrorism, particularly white supremacists, and find that balance so we can take tangible concrete steps to combat this threat."

After deriding those who plead the Fifth, Trump pleads the Fifth“The mob takes the Fifth Amendment,” Donald Trump said in 2016. “If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?” Today, he pleaded the Fifth.The plan was for Donald Trump to deliver a sworn deposition today in a New York civil case. As NBC News reported, however, things didn’t exactly go according to plan.
Former President Donald Trump said he invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination Wednesday during a deposition before lawyers from New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office in its probe into the Trump Organization’s business practices.
Trump World’s lawyers spent months trying to quash the subpoenas in this civil case. Those efforts failed, and the former president was ordered to show up for today’s deposition, whether he liked it or not.
We now know that the former president complied with the court’s directive, but when the Q&A began, the Republican asserted his rights against self-incrimination.
For his part, the former president issued an eight-paragraph statement this morning in which he whined at great length about New York’s attorney general and condemned the civil case as politically motivated.
As for Trump’s record, the Republican has had quite a bit to say over the years about this specific constitutional protection.

.Trump's actions in new report 'significantly strengthen the criminal case' for indictments: legal expert.In a series of tweets on Saturday afternoon, NYU law professor and former Department of Defense special counsel Ryan Goodman claimed the reporting in a bombshell report in the New York Times earlier in the day -- if proven true -- contains details that could push the DOJ to file criminal charges against the former president.
Earlier in the morning, the Times reported that Trump pushed his aides and lawyers to help him delay returning sensitive documents he took with him to his Mar-a-Lago resort -- with the former president later coming up with a plan to use them in trade with the government.
As the Times' Maggie Haberman and Michael Schmidt wrote, "Mr. Trump, still determined to show he had been wronged by the F.B.I. investigation into his 2016 campaign’s ties to Russia, was angry with the National Archives and Records Administration for its unwillingness to hand over a batch of sensitive documents that he thought proved his claims. In exchange for those documents, Mr. Trump told advisers, he would return to the National Archives the boxes of material he had taken to Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Fla."
Linking to the New York Times' story, Goodman explained, "Several of Trump's actions in this new NYT report (via @maggieNYT @nytmike) significantly strengthen the criminal case — and are the type of aggravating factors that push DOJ toward indictment."
As "Exhibit 1" he submitted, "Trump proposed to his aides to tell Archives he'd give back MAL docs in exchange for Archives’ releasing Russia docs. @JoyceWhiteVance : 'Sounds very extortion-y.' Agreed Aides rejected proposal as 'non-starter since the government had a clear right to the material.'"
He continued, "Exhibit 2: Alex Cannon's legal advice was the boxes 'needed to be shipped back as they were, so the professional archivists could be the ones to sift through the material.' What did Trump do? Trump 'went through them' himself. Goes to knowledge, concealment, and 18 USC 1519."
"Exhibit 3," he continued, " What we knew before: In Sept 2021, Trump's delegates to Archives made a false statement to Archives General Counsel that boxes contained nothing sensitive; only 'news clippings.' What we did not know: If that false statement came from Trump," then adding, "Legal significance of Exhibit 3: False statements to Archives is activity that may violate 18 USC 1519 (cited in DOJ search warrant). It's also the type of aggravating factor that can push DOJ toward indictments. [Mark] Meadows also has some legal exposure here."
He concluded, "Exhibit 4: We knew this before, but NYT report puts in perspective important part of timeline: Soon after Trump goes through boxes himself, he tells his lawyer to make the (false) statement to the Archives that Trump has now returned everything."

'Final nail in his coffin': Trump's taxes contain 'powerful evidence of criminal tax evasion'In a column for the Daily Beast, longtime investigative journalist and Donald Trump biographer made the case that there is enough evidence of financial fraud in the former president's tax returns from 2015 to 2020 to indict and prosecute him.
At issue, he noted, are deductions taken for Trump companies -- some of which may never have existed.
According to Johnston, the author of "The Big Cheat: How Donald Trump Fleeced America and Enriched Himself and His Family," he found "powerful evidence of criminal tax evasion," after reviewing the documents after they were released on Friday morning to the public after years of obstruction from Trump.
"Consider a rich business owner who fabricates deductions but who would still owe zero tax in the audited year even if those deductions were denied. That means an audit that will not generate any tax revenue. That’s also what Trump apparently did in 26 sole proprietor, or Schedule C, filings in the six years of released tax returns," he wrote before adding, "Trump also turned a profit off a portion of the tax system, making $2.8 million profit off the Alternative Minimum Tax, or AMT."
As for those 26 Trump businesses that may or may not exist, Johnston suggested that investigators dig deeper into how the former president used them to get out of paying taxes in the years involved.
"Most glaring in the tax returns is that they include 26 Trump businesses—or imaginary businesses—with zero revenue and hundreds of thousands of dollars in tax deductions for expenses," he pointed out while noting they should be of interest to New York State Attorney General Letitia James, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and Attorney General Merrick Garland.
"Unless Trump can produce records showing the expenses are real and meet other standards to be deductible, that’s fraud. That Trump did it 26 times as a candidate and as president is powerful evidence that he qualifies for prosecution by the federal government and New York State for criminal tax fraud," he wrote before adding the results could lead to a "slam dunk" prosecution.

The chickens are coming home to roost, it takes time for the damage to become apparent, but the damage is beginning. The first thing Trump did was to roll back dozens of regulations dealing with safety, the environment and cutting regulations on financial institutions. This nation and our democratic government are in direct danger should Trump ever get into power again.
Trump cut requirements for railroad operators. Now we have toxic spills in Ohio and other places trains have derailed because of cuts made by Trump. He cut the EPA by more than one-third so they are no longer able to help in these situations.
Then we have the Dodd-Frank destruction leading directly to our current situation with bank failures. All the rules put in place by Obama to prevent just such a melt-down were thrown out by Trump and now we have at least TWO major bank failures!.The Trump Administration Rolled Back More Than 100 Environmental Rules. people of the country into going along with this idiocy. Modern technology is able to
develop these sources of power without any damage to the environment. France
gets 80% of its power from nuclear power plants without any problems. Needless to
say, without sufficient energy, the United States will not be able to defend itself. All
the papacy has to do is cut off the oil supply from the middle east.
The United States is now starting to feel the pinch of the energy shortage the Jesuits
have created. People have experienced blackouts over large areas as power is shut
off to stay within the limits of generating capacity. Today, instead of constructing
additional nuclear power plants, some of these plants are being dismantled! Will the
people of the United States be able to wake up in time to prevent the coming
national tragedy?
Not only in the United States is this treachery being perpetrated by the papacy, but
they are secretly at work all over the world to subvert all the nations of the world.
