On the big rock candy mountain

You never change your socks

And the little streams of alchohol

Come trickling down the rocks

home early from Grand Jury...light case load.

My grandmother wouldnt let us sing the hobo version of Big Rock Candy Mountain...so we sang "O the buzzin’ of the bees in the Peppermint trees and the soda water fountains". I’m heading to Google to find out who sang that version. and I don’t find it. Anyone else know the kids version?

On the Oh Brother soundtrack it is credited to Harry McClintock but that is definately the hobo version.

If you didn’t care

What happened to me

And I didn’t care

For you

We would zig zag our way

Through the boredom and pain

Ocasionally glancing up through the rain

Wondering which of the buggars to blame

And watching

For pigs on the wing

Hi Kattale,

Steve Goodman has that version toward the end of his life. He was dying from leukemia and was on a lot of meds. He had hooked up with Jethro (from Homer and Jethro) and I’m sorry I don’t know his last name. I have some recordings that are incredible when you figure how sick he was and how many meds he was on.

Worried man worried man I’m a weary worried man

Hungry babies don’t understand papa is a worried man

The place I used to draw my pay slammed the door on me today

And told me just to stay away and no come back again

I went back home to bring the news my woman saw that I had the blues

But she said the babies need new shoes and I’m a worried man

Worried man worried man...

[Guitar]

Well there is no way that I can see that I can feed my family

Cause I don’t own no money tree and very little lam

But I said mama don’t you cry I’ll get a job up fore the day’s gone by

I don’t know where though and that is why I’m a worried man

Worried man worried man...

Worried man worried man...

My sisters kid is tatooed from his head down to his toes

He claims trouble follows him everywhere he goes

He’s such a lazy loafing good for nothing drunken slob

But still he thinks I oughta give his sorry ass a job

People and their problems are giving me a pain

People and there problems are messing with my brain

I try to help them some but it always stays the same

People and there problems are driving me insane

Once there was an Inca queen

She gazed at her sun dial

All around her workers raised

Golden idols to her smile

She spoke of silver from the sky

And many floating safety boats

To pick them up when they would fly

Far beyond their dreams and hopes

See these tears so blue

An ageless heart

that can never mend

These tears can never dry

A judgement made

can never bend

See these eyes so green

I can stare for a thousand years

Just be still with me

You wouldn’t believe what I’ve been thru

David Bowie
