Russian company investing in Kentucky mill is a ‘proxy for the Kremlin’: Senate Intelligence report

Rusal, a Russian aluminum company, has invested heavily in a mill that the North American company Braidy Industries has planned for Eastern Kentucky — and according to a Senate Intelligence report on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, Rusal is a “proxy for the Kremlin.”

In 2019, journalist Morgan Watkins reports in the Louisville Courier Journal, Rusal agreed to invest $200 million in Braidy’s mill. And the bipartisan Senate Intelligence report, released on August 18, describes Russian oligarch and Rusal co-owner Oleg Deripaska’s ties to the Kremlin.

According to the report, “Deripaska’s companies, including Rusal, are proxies for the Kremlin, including for Russian government influence efforts, economic measures and diplomatic relations.”

Watkins notes that according to a Securities and Exchange Commission report that Braidy filed in June, Rusal had provided $75 million for the mill as of December 31, 2019 but had discontinued contributions until Braidy could secure another $300 million in funding.

The U.S. government has imposed sanctions on Rusal, but Kentucky’s two Republican senators — Sen. Rand Paul and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell — have voted against keeping the sanctions in place. Watkins notes that on August 19, the Kentucky Democratic Party “questioned McConnell’s decision to support lifting the sanctions on Rusal in light of the Senate Intelligence Committee report’s identification of Rusal as a proxy for the Kremlin.”
The difference between patriotism and nationalism is that the patriot is proud of his country for what it does, and the nationalist is proud of his country no matter what it does; the first attitude creates a feeling of responsibility, but the second a feeling of blind arrogance that leads to war.

All of the violence begins with right wing radicals!

Right-wing militias are gearing up for an armed response on Election Day: report

According to a report from Politico, scattered right-wing militia members are looking at Election Day as a moment when they will hit the streets fully-armed in anticipation of protests over the election results.

The report notes that chatter among the groups has been building for some time and that it “has taken a darker turn in recent weeks.”

The report goes on top note that the groups have been emboldened by the president’s recent inflammatory rhetoric with Nguyen writing, “Many of these militant groups — which often espouse anti-government, white supremacist and pro-Trump ideologies — are disconnected and diffuse, without large bases of devoted members. But researchers and government officials say they still represent an acute threat. A recent report from the Center for Strategic and International Studies found far-right extremists were behind two-thirds of reported terrorist plots and attacks in the U.S. this year. And a recent Department of Homeland Security threat assessment warned white supremacist extremists are the ‘most persistent and lethal threat in the homeland.'”

According to Graham Brookie, director of The Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab, “The dangerous thing about Election Day is that groups can plan for it. There will be a moment of opportunity and there will be a moment of information about who potentially wins the election or what the conversation is about the results of the election. And they’ll be looking for signals and dog whistles.”

Media Matters’ Angelo Carusone added, “Hyping warnings about potential left-wing violence is significant because that’s what we’re seeing militia groups planning around. We are seeing a similar theme in militia/extremist activity — that they’re hyperfocused on potential for left-wing groups to become violent on or after the election.”

ENRAGED TRUMP ACCUSES GEORGIA’S REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR OF STEALING THE STATE FOR BIDEN

Desperate to blame anyone but himself for his humiliating loss in the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump is now lobbing accusations of wrongdoing at a Republican governor in a Deep South state he lost to Joe Biden.

On Saturday morning, Trump claimed that Georgia GOP Gov. Brian Kemp and his 2018 Democratic opponent, Stacey Abrams, had committed a crime:

"The Consent Decree signed by the Georgia Secretary of State, with the approval of Governor @BrianKempGA, at the urging of @staceyabrams, makes it impossible to check & match signatures on ballots and envelopes, etc. They knew they were going to cheat. Must expose real signatures!"

"....What are they trying to hide. They know, and so does everyone else. EXPOSE THE CRIME!"

Be sure and note that Twitter flagged both of the president’s tweets, and for good reason: There’s not a shred of proof that any wrongdoing took place in the election. Even Trump’s own Department of Homeland Security has declared the 2020 election “the most secure in American history.”

The difference between patriotism and nationalism is that the patriot is proud of his country for what it does, and the nationalist is proud of his country no matter what it does; the first attitude creates a feeling of responsibility, but the second a feeling of blind arrogance that leads to war.

The 126 Republicans that have signed on the lawsuit to overturn a lawful election are guilty of sedition, they are actively attempting to overthrow the official actions of our government... they are ineligible to serve in any elected position!

Many wonder today why the Republican party does nothing to defeat the treasonous
schemes of the Democrats. It is because the pope’s Jesuits have thoroughly
infiltrated the Republican party as well as the Democratic party. Many wonder why
the news media lie so much to support and protect the Democrats. It is because the
pope’s Jesuits have thoroughly infiltrated the news media. The news media and
schools and colleges, with their lies and propaganda, have so conditioned the
people of the country that they are unable to recognize what has been done to them.
Victory for the Jesuits seems very near. The Jesuits are like a cancer that has
pervaded nearly every fiber of the society of the United States. We are being
defeated by the enemy within.

For many years the Jesuits have prevented the United States from developing
additional sources of energy within its own territory. Exploiting the vast oilfields on
the Alaskan north slope, that probably contain more oil than the entire middle east,
is forbidden. New nuclear power plants, the safest source of electric energy ever
discovered, are not permitted. There is no end to the lies people have been made to
believe about Nuclear energy. The environment is used as the club to subdue the
people of the country into going along with this idiocy. Modern technology is able to
develop these sources of power without any damage to the environment. France
gets 80% of its power from nuclear power plants without any problems. Needless to
say, without sufficient energy, the United States will not be able to defend itself. All
the papacy has to do is cut off the oil supply from the middle east.

The United States is now starting to feel the pinch of the energy shortage the Jesuits
have created. People have experienced blackouts over large areas as power is shut
off to stay within the limits of generating capacity. Today, instead of constructing
additional nuclear power plants, some of these plants are being dismantled! Will the
people of the United States be able to wake up in time to prevent the coming
national tragedy?

Not only in the United States is this treachery being perpetrated by the papacy, but
they are secretly at work all over the world to subvert all the nations of the world.

"And all the world wondered after the beast." Rev 13:3 last part.

This is the same form of abuse that found a former member suspended. One post is sufficient, maybe two for added effect, but posting the exact same thing, eight times, over and over on every single active thread is abuse! It also shows the ignorance of the person, being incapable of writing a logical, sensible response, the ignorant person will copy and paste the same idiocy all day long.

Decent Americans don’t need unity with willful liars.

While a substantial portion of Americans and the vast majority of the opposing party still knowingly cling to the big lie of a fraudulent election, they do not deserve our unity. Such manufactured claims are fundamentally divisive, and intentionally so. Only when human beings stand together on the solid bedrock of objective truth can any commonality be unearthed and any compromises carved out.

After 64 lost lawsuits and dozens of failed recounts, there simply is no evidence of any kind to merit these fabrications of a corrupted electoral process, and as long as our friends, family members, and lawmakers reiterate such a falsehood, unity is neither possible nor required nor helpful.

I have this radical lefty belief that we shouldn’t spend $1,700,000,000,000 on a failed F-35 fighter jet program when 94% of public school teachers are forced to spend their own money on school supplies.

Economist has 'cheap fun' contrasting job gains under Trump and Biden

Bob Brigham ~ March 20, 2021

President Donald Trump's disastrous response to the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in him making history for having the worst jobs record since Herbert Hoover.

Dean Baker, senior economist at the Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR), took a look at the numbers on Saturday in a post headlined, "Cheap Fun Department: Job growth under Trump and Biden."

"Okay, I'll admit that this is stupid, but you know damn well if the situation were reversed the Republicans would have this comparison all over the place," Baker stipulated.

"We don't even have to speculate. When President Obama assumed office with an economy in free fall from the collapse of the housing bubble, the Republicans were quick to blame him for the job loss from the crash he had inherited. So, in the spirit of reciprocity, here's the picture," he said, with a chart showing Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers for job growth under Trump's term and the first month of Joe Biden's presidency.

"As can be seen, after four years in the White House, Donald Trump had a net loss of 2,943,000 jobs. After one month, Joe Biden has a net gain of 379,000," Baker wrote.

Tucker Carlson blasted for ‘straight up Nazism’ after his latest defense of white supremacy

Matthew Chapman

On Monday evening, Fox News' Tucker Carlson veered into hardline racism during his program, saying that Democrats agenda is to "change the population of the country" in order to allow themselves to set policy permanently — an overt nod to the white nationalist "great replacement" conspiracy theory.

Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt has demanded Fox News fire Carlson.

"It is the secret to the entire immigration debate," said Carlson. "Demographic change is the key to the Democratic Party's political ambitions."

Carlson, who has repeatedly espoused similar views on his program including openly questioning the idea that diversity "is our strength" and that immigrants make America "poorer and dirtier," triggered a fresh wave of fury from commenters on social media.

This from Robert Reich...

This anti-democratic wave is geared toward one purpose: ensuring a Republican wins in 2024 by any means necessary. Suppressing Democratic votes, scaring off nonpartisan elections officials with the threat of heavy fines for minor mistakes, seizing control of election administration — it’s all part of the GOP’s plan to undermine our democracy and entrench Republican power for years (if not decades). Republicans know their platform is unpopular. They know they can’t win on the issues. So they’re rigging the system and cheating their way to victory instead. Democrats must understand these dire stakes and pass both the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, before it’s too late.

That’s my view. What do you think?

'Complicit': Liz Cheney nails Kevin McCarthy for withholding 'important information' about Jan. 6

David Edwards ~ May 16, 2021

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) on Sunday suggested that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is withholding "important information" about the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

During an interview on Fox News, Cheney told host Chris Wallace that she was ousted from Republican leadership because she refused to be "complicit" in spreading former President Donald Trump's so-called "Big Lie" about the 2020 election being stolen.

Wallace noted that Cheney has argued that Trump is "dangerous" for the Republican Party and for the country.

"I ask this about both McCarthy and Elise Stefanik (R-NY)," Wallace said. "Are they being complicit in what you consider the Trump lies?"

"They are," Cheney agreed. "And I'm not willing to do that. There are some things that have to be bigger than party, that have to be bigger than partisanship. Our oath to the Constitution is one of those."
